Ran a couple more short tracks in the afternoon. I am trying to vary the location as often as I can so today we went to a friend's house and used his backyard.

First track was laid out with food every step and second track with food every third step. I noticed she tended to turn perpendicular to the track more often with food every third step. She also veered a little to the right for a few steps (See video at 1:10) but because her nose was on the ground and she was moving in the right direction I still followed her. Not sure if that was the right thing to do? She eventually corrected herself to finish on the track (See video at 1:15).

Articles went better today and she did pick them up with some encouragement. We definitely need to work on those article games more...

  1. Lovely track, love you changing locations, and your article play should be an example for everyone! I love that softly wagging tail—i suspect that will eventually be an “I’m on the track” cue for you.

  2. i actually liked the second track better than the first, she is actively searching. i would repeat that and begin to lengthen the TRACK, stick with that food pattern.
i'm betting if she found a dropped glove in the kitchen when her dinner was on the counter, and you kept your eyes on the glove, she would pick it up! give it a try! she is ready for shaping!!

  3. I agree - Tilly was definitely searching on the second track and doing good work. Place the video at 1.5x speed and it'll look smoother! Keep it up and I would start lengthening her tracks as well
